Busy Busy Busy....

We have new floors! We had fun the night before the hard wood floors were installed. We let the kids loose with markers ot color on the carpet! We were VERY clear that this was a once in a lifetime thing!

Sarah is back from her 4 day cruise to Mexico! She and Nana had a great time! This was Sarah's birthday present from Nana.

Good Times and Good Friends

We've completed our whirlwind of parties. Peggy turned 3 with a handful of bunnies, the entire family came for the whole host of Oct/Nov birthdays in our family, Sarah's party was a royal sucess and lastly an evening hosting friends for our dear friend Phil. Now I'm sitting in a messy house, completely content since no one will entering our house for at least another two weeks.

I've included some photos and here are some promoting links for the wonderful support we had for the girls' birthdays: PartiAnimalz and Aurora Face Painting

Boooo

Happy All Souls Day to you all. Just wanted to share our Halloween frights with you. This yea we were blessed with an Indiana Jones, a Southern Fairy, and a lady bug that magically turned into Sleeping Beauty. Once again we have more candy than is necessary to feed a family of 65.

I also have pitures that I will upload from Peggy's farm themed birthday party. A local farm brought bunnies, chickens and a couple of poodles to the house. Peggy LOVED it! She also got a new tricycle for her birthday. She's out riding it now!

Proof I don't deserve the MOMS of the Year Award

This story will probably only seem funny to you if your kids/grandkids watch Disney Channel. So I was getting ready to brush Peggy's teeth and she looks in to the mirror and says

"Hi, I'm Peggy Thompson and you're watching the Disney Channel!"

And then she proceeds to make the Disney Channel ears with her imaginary wand. I laughed so hard Dave asked me what was wrong!!

Okay, so my kids watch a little TV. But I'm sane and they are all alive and well.

Back to School Bliss

I really took advantage of my first week with all three kids in school. I got my nails done, sat and had coffee with the ladies for 2 hours, did some shopping, SHOWERED, went for a walk... and that was all in just 6 hours! Who knew that I could be more efficient at relaxing with no kids around. But this week it's back to the grind stone. I'm getting back on track with VentureVA this month. I just needed to get it out of my system and I feel soooo much better.

As for school, everyone is doing great! Peggy wants to go every day. Her favorite part is play-dough and the little potties they have in the bathroom at school. Sarah told me this week that she LOVES FIRST GRADE... thanks be to God and Mrs. Williams! She loves her teacher and she brings gifts to her almost everyday. David, as usual, is fine with school.

And the extra stuff... Peggy is taking ballet again. The swimming schedule didn't work out, but she and I are going to swim on Monday's together at the Y. She'll be ready for her first "non mommy" class after her birthday... she grew gills this summer! Sarah is doing Girl Scouts. I'm the leader, so it should be very interesting. She may also start some art classes at a local gallery later this month. Check out this site... www.vitaexplorations.com it sounds like an interesting business! Sarah and David are both doing Religious education this year. David will be getting his first communion this spring. David is also playing soccer. Dave is coach his team. He's a great coach and the parents love him... I do too.

So.... we're busy! What else is new.

The Roads in Rhode Island

Mary and I had a wonderful trip. It was so great to have all that time to talk and chat and gab and just hang out. We learned one thing on the trip... the Rhode in Rhode Island doesn't mean a thing. We got lost just about every time we ventured out in the car! The lack of signs, disappearing lanes and cryptic directions, it's amazing we made it any of our destinations.

The Edgewood B&B we stayed at was awesome! The two houses were beautifully restored, filled with antiques, and completely comfortable. The house we stayed in has a residence attached to it and the two kids of the original owners still live there... they are 95 and 93 years old!!!!!!

Take a look at all my photos here. We packed lots in for three days. After waiting over 2 hours for a rental car we drove from Boston to Providence in the dark through torrential rain... locals were pulling over it was so bad. But it was dry in Providence and we headed out for a late dinner of Fish and Chips at O'rourke's Irish Pub in South Providence. Saturday morning we had a few hours to kill before the wedding. After a wonderful home cooked meal we headed to downtown Providence to wander the streets. They are doing a great job of revitalizing downtown without taking away from the historic look and feel of the place. Then we headed West to the wedding which was at a retreat center for URI. It was a beautiful wedding and very nice reception followed by a bonfire complete with smores! Sunday was Kingsbury day... we went to my uncle's house and had a mini family reunion. Cousins came from everywhere to see me! I was so flattered! More pictures of that here. I got to see my dad and Helen, too. I even got to meet Peanut!

We had an extraordinary dinner Sunday night at a restaurant in Providence. Mary needed oyster's! Monday we had most of the day before having to drive back to Boston. We headed to Newport and strolled the cliffwalk to see the Mansions. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Mary, just promise me we won't wait another decade before we do this again!!!

sum... summ... summertime

Less than three weeks left and we're back to school. YEAHHHH! As much as I love summertime and going to the pool whenever, getting dressed at 10am, late nights out with the family, and going fun places... I'd done. It's been fun... let's move on!

We did have a great summer. David and Sarah loved science camp and David and his friend Justin loved golf camp. Peggy and Sarah really liked their art class through the rec dept. So much so that Sarah has decided that's what she wants to do when she grows up... be a crafts teacher. Peggy is also doing ballet at the Y and loves it. She will even do a little show for you most days! We'll probably keep that up in the fall. David has one more camp... AYSO soccer camp... and then we're done.

My biggest accomplishment this summer... Peggy is potty trained... which really just means she CAN go pee in the potty. It doesn't actually mean she always WILL go pee in the potty. She's done VERY well, I'm not complaining one bit. She has been VERY easygoing about the whole process... we haven't had one outburst from either of us over the situation. That's VERY positive.

I have been having so much fun this summer that I've neglected to take any pictures. We've been the water park more than I can count on one hand... no pictures. We went blueberry picking at a local farm... no pictures. We went polliwog hunting at a local stream last week... no pictures. Peggy is swimming.... no pictures... but I do have video. We watched Enchanted outdoors at the Y one night... no pictures. Peggy's ballet is soooo cute it brings tears to my eyes... no pictures. So I have no proof that any of that happened!

What do I have pictures of... The Williams came to visit from Canada. The kids got along beautifully and we had a great time chatting with our old friends. The kids watched the 3D Hannah Montana concert on TV... the lead up was more exciting than the actual event!

We're BAAAACCCK

We're back from our wonderful vacation in Colorado! Peggy actually had a tantrum when we told her we were leaving! The kids had such a great time... we swam at the pool, caught a home run ball at a Rockies game, ooohed and aaaawed at fireworks (TWICE), saw Walle, cheered on Courtney at her softball game, went to Water World, partied at Lilly's house for the 4th, played in Riley's basement and ate birthday cake with Gabby.

Pictures... oh yeah, I'll have to find those. Come back soon!

What is "inspiration"?

Since I had a few minutes to update our family blog I sat down at the computer only to be completely uninspired to write about anything that would interest anyone other than my mother. (Not that I didn't want to entertain you with antics of your grandchildren today, but I'm trying to branch out) So, I challenged my self to an inspiration... and I waited for that light bulb, those little lines of surprise over my head commonly found in the Sunday funnies, the twinkle sound that follows the magic wand. But nothing came.

Hmmm. So what is inspiration and where does it come from? Is it motivation? No, I'm here and I'm typing! I have the motivation, I have the desire, I have a NEED to be inspired. So that's not it.

Is it knowledge? Do I just lack the knowledge of anything interesting to say? I think I'm getting warmer. Since the only thing I did today was Mommie and Me Ballet with a room full of two year olds and then I sat at the park and watched my kids play. Although there were plenty of VISUALLY interesting things to share today, I admit that I did lack motivation in that department... I haven't carried my camera in months!

So maybe what is lacking is the skill to put those emotionally inspiring visuals into words. To be able to explain here in plain English how sweet it was to see Peggy chasse' across the room or how hilarious it was to see her then attempt to skip at all and how hard it was not to fall down laughing (while skipping, mind you). That is it, there in lies the problem. I lack skill. I'll work on it, in the mean time I'll put my camera in my purse.

An Old-fashioned Summer

Today was our first "real" day of summer. We did some hunting and gathering for our dinner, we frolicked about in the wild and then we visited our favorite watering hole. Seriously, we did all this- just California style. We went to a local farm and picked blueberries and I used them to make blueberry pancakes for dinner. The we went to a park with some friends and the kids played in the woods (okay, low brush, but woods sounds more exciting) for a couple of hours. And then we headed home for bath time because they were COVERED in dirt. Overall, we had a good day. Not a great day, but good nonetheless. The kids are having trouble trusting me that we're going to have fun with whatever I say we're going to do for the day. If I left it up to them we be playing Wii and watching Sharkboy and Lavagirl all day long!

Welcome To Our Blog

Change is good... it's just time consuming! We're switching from DSL to cable in an attempt to get better service. We'll see. So we have to get rid of our old website and e-mail accounts.
I'm actually liking my new on-line set up much better already. I hope you can enjoy our pictures easier at http://picasaweb.google.com/momski3. Please let me know what you think about this format. It's much easier to just be witty than to have to be visually creative AND witty with a real website. Hey, I try.
