Please don't think this is normal, but I cooked a themed meal tonight! A day early, I know, but we have a basketball game tomorrow night.
HEART SHAPED TORTILLA CHIPS for our taco salad/nachos. And THEY ATE IT! And it wasn't all that great, but how can you screw up a tortilla chip. I cut regular flour tortillas with a heart cookie cutter; put some flavored oil and salt on them; stuck them in the oven (i picked a temp and watched them because the 10 online recipes i found all said something different). I think what sold the nachos to the kids was the "real" nacho cheese. We NEVER have nacho cheese (and you can guess why!). I made brownies too.... Wow! And we used REAL plates. Huge!

we put our house on the market for no other reason than.... we could. I cleaned my floors (on my hands and knees) DAILY, I kept the toys put away, and we used paper plates for 5 months straight. Last weekend we had our house warming party..... TOTALLY worth it all. There has not been one second that I have regretted making this change. I LOVED my old house and had always thought I'd have grandkids come visit me there. But this is home... what a difference a mile can make!
So now I'm blogging because someone said it's good for me. There's no other reason (well, except for the truth that this is the only time someone will listen to me..... and I don't even know WHO is listening to me).

One Month
Is it possible that it's been a month and then some? Feels like years! We just returned from a short vacation in CO. Always great to visit with family. We had family photos taken... check out a few of the shots here.
House updates: This month my goal is ORGANIZATION! Dave spent a few nights in a row drilling holes in the walls! Hooks in the closets, hooks in the bathrooms, hooks in the garage, pictures, calendars and more. Some more things have found a new home and we're getting organized. I've also ordered a new wrapping paper organizer! I know, I'm a geek for being so excited.
We have also welcomed a few new pieces of furniture to our home. First, an antique side board. It's HUGE, it's old, and it's beautiful. But most of all, it's PERFECT. Craigs list rules! I need to give it some TLC to get shined up and put together, but I still smile every time I walk by it. We also have new bar stools for the kitchen.
Next week, the yard..... Mike the Yard Guy is coming to clear the back yard. Sadie may have a new place to frolic in less than a week. Before and after photos, coming soon!

3 WEEKS
I truely can't even remember living anywhere else. The Concord home seems like YEARS ago. There are still boxes everywhere and no one can find anything, but its HOME!
We bought a new couch. I should rephrase that... I bought a couch. My mom and I found a couch while out shopping and I bought it without Dave! RISKY! But he likes it and its PERFECT.
Let's see, what other little projects have we completed. Finally bought some shelves for the garage so we can start organizing in there. We don't love them, but now you can walk around in there. The lighting guy comes next week to put some new pendant lights over the bar, canisters in the Study, a light in coat closet and Peggy's closet and move the location of the laundry room switch (which is BEHIND the door!). Today we're getting the kids rooms more organized as well.
That's about all we've done. We took a break from doing house stuff 24 hours a day this past week. All three kids were in camp, Dave was on travel and I worked. It was kind of normal!!!! Of course I have NO pictures from surf camp or farm camp.... how did that happen!

The First Week
We've been in the house a week.... what... just a week... seems like YEARS ago. Had another day with not much movement on the box front. But Target is our friend and now we have some shelving for all the closets. Let me clarify, we HAVE the shelving... not in any closets, be HAVE it. I guess I'll have to add "put shelving together" on my to do list. "Buy shelving" just wasn't motivation enough to get it all done.

DAY FIVE
We've hit critical mass.... all critical items have been unpacked, leaving us with little motiviation to tackle the uncritical boxes. It was a beautiful day here is SoCal, too nice to spend the entire day inside working. So we spent most of it inside doing nothing! Of course that was after I took all three kids out to do some errands and at the third stop... Lamps Plus... realized I still had my slippers on! Embarrassment and all, we continued on our quest and found great deals at Ross (since I was dressed for less already....)! The Flamingo bathroom now is home to a 2 foot Flamingo! Shhhhh.... I'm going to see how long it takes Dave to notice. We also got a furry, purple, shag rug for Sarah's room and a tie-die pillow for Peggy's. Don't worry, David got some catcher's gear... he's not feeling neglected!
All was not lost today, however. Before I even got up, Dave installed a new showerhead in the girls' room. One downside to 8-10 foot ceilings is the showers. Now the girls can actually get wet in their shower by more than one nozzle hole at a time. Have I mentioned that Dave is handy and I love him!!!
In other good news, we met a neighbor that has a 20 year old daughter WHO BABYSITS! Already hired her to watch kids so I can go to my Girl Scout meeting while Dave is away! They should list that on the MLS!!!

DAY FOUR
It was bound to happen. Dave and I are smacking our heads saying "What have we gotten ourselves into?" Three of the 7 sinks in the house have leaks. Two just needed some tightening. The kitchen sink however, is a mystery. There's lots of water damage under there, but we haven't discovered the source. We're hoping our experiment with paper towels helps solve the case. Meanwhile.....
Dave went to mow the lawn since we got a notice from the HOA in our escrow package (BEFORE WE EVEN OWNED THE HOUSE) that our lawn was not up to snuff. And in the process discovered two broken sprinklers. One had made a 10 inch deep sink hole. He's a Lowe's right now getting the parts he needs. Sorry girls, your beds will NOT be put back together today. David's is done and the spare bedroom is done, however. Laura and Nana, you now have a room, a bed, a closet AND your own bathroom and shower! Let the visiting begin!
On a happier note, we've unpacked the wine glasses. COME AND VISIT US! And I've washed the glassware in the dishwasher and it made them all SPARKLY! Even my glasses that haven't sparkled in years! I LOVE MY NEW DISHWASHER (unless of course it's making the leaky mess, then I may have lower my enthusiasm to a dull REALLY LIKE).
