Congrats Ventura Youth Choir
This past weekend, Sarah's choir performed at a Music Festival hosted by Music in the Parks. There were judged along with over a dozen other school orchastras, bands and choirs. VYC won their division (hahaha, they were the only community choir and therefore the only one in their category). But they also won BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR! And 75% of the choir is elementary school kids!

My New Love..... Pinterest!
If you haven't joined.... DO IT. There is finally a social networking outlet that has IMPROVED my life! From Wiki (another tool I couldn't live without): "Pinterest's mission is to 'connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting' via a global platform of inspiration and idea sharing." It's a public bulletin board! Find a recipe you like, PIN IT. Find a chair you want to buy someday, PIN IT. See a beautilful place you NEED to visit before you pass on the next life, PIN IT. The best part abou it, you can ORGANIZE you ideas, likes, desires! It's an organizational freak's dream come true!
The one thing I haven't figured out how to do is to share how I've used the site. I have started a board, I DID THIS, to showcase the ideas I've taken from Pinterest and actually used in my life. But I want to show my OWN pictures!
For example, we made a book sling for Peggy's room (idea from this blog that was PINNED on Pinterest by someone I don't even know). No pictures yet, haven't hung it up. I also took a cleaning tip and shined my shower! Check out my photos! I also made Easter Brunch for the family.... ALL recipes came from Pinterest! I've become little Suzie Homemaker for the 21st century!

Go Carts, Bunnies, and Earings OH MY
Sping is the time time for change, right? Well SLOW DOWN PEOPLE. There are many changes going on in the Thompson world!
Peggy got her ears pierced. She did great, smiled thru the WHOLE thing. And today Sarah helped her take the studs out and put in "real" earings. I don't which touched me more.... Sarah helping or the fact my BABY has earings.
The Thompson Zoo continued to grow this month..... Sarah got a bunny. Graham Cracker joined us a few weeks ago and is very happy in his homemade hutch (Dave and Sarah built it TOGETHER!). So now we have a husband, three kids, a dog, a turtle, two bearded dragons, and a bunny. Did I mention Dave wants a puppy?
Lastly, YIKES. David got a GoCart TODAY. Good old Craigslist. He broke open his Mario bank (literally, he had to smash it to get the $70+ dollars out of it) and used his birthday money to buy a REAL GoCart. So far just a few quick spins around the local parking lot. It started to rain so we had to put it away.
Bottom line.... they are growing up fast.

Happy Valentine's Day
Please don't think this is normal, but I cooked a themed meal tonight! A day early, I know, but we have a basketball game tomorrow night.
HEART SHAPED TORTILLA CHIPS for our taco salad/nachos. And THEY ATE IT! And it wasn't all that great, but how can you screw up a tortilla chip. I cut regular flour tortillas with a heart cookie cutter; put some flavored oil and salt on them; stuck them in the oven (i picked a temp and watched them because the 10 online recipes i found all said something different). I think what sold the nachos to the kids was the "real" nacho cheese. We NEVER have nacho cheese (and you can guess why!). I made brownies too.... Wow! And we used REAL plates. Huge!

we put our house on the market for no other reason than.... we could. I cleaned my floors (on my hands and knees) DAILY, I kept the toys put away, and we used paper plates for 5 months straight. Last weekend we had our house warming party..... TOTALLY worth it all. There has not been one second that I have regretted making this change. I LOVED my old house and had always thought I'd have grandkids come visit me there. But this is home... what a difference a mile can make!
So now I'm blogging because someone said it's good for me. There's no other reason (well, except for the truth that this is the only time someone will listen to me..... and I don't even know WHO is listening to me).

One Month
Is it possible that it's been a month and then some? Feels like years! We just returned from a short vacation in CO. Always great to visit with family. We had family photos taken... check out a few of the shots here.
House updates: This month my goal is ORGANIZATION! Dave spent a few nights in a row drilling holes in the walls! Hooks in the closets, hooks in the bathrooms, hooks in the garage, pictures, calendars and more. Some more things have found a new home and we're getting organized. I've also ordered a new wrapping paper organizer! I know, I'm a geek for being so excited.
We have also welcomed a few new pieces of furniture to our home. First, an antique side board. It's HUGE, it's old, and it's beautiful. But most of all, it's PERFECT. Craigs list rules! I need to give it some TLC to get shined up and put together, but I still smile every time I walk by it. We also have new bar stools for the kitchen.
Next week, the yard..... Mike the Yard Guy is coming to clear the back yard. Sadie may have a new place to frolic in less than a week. Before and after photos, coming soon!

3 WEEKS
I truely can't even remember living anywhere else. The Concord home seems like YEARS ago. There are still boxes everywhere and no one can find anything, but its HOME!
We bought a new couch. I should rephrase that... I bought a couch. My mom and I found a couch while out shopping and I bought it without Dave! RISKY! But he likes it and its PERFECT.
Let's see, what other little projects have we completed. Finally bought some shelves for the garage so we can start organizing in there. We don't love them, but now you can walk around in there. The lighting guy comes next week to put some new pendant lights over the bar, canisters in the Study, a light in coat closet and Peggy's closet and move the location of the laundry room switch (which is BEHIND the door!). Today we're getting the kids rooms more organized as well.
That's about all we've done. We took a break from doing house stuff 24 hours a day this past week. All three kids were in camp, Dave was on travel and I worked. It was kind of normal!!!! Of course I have NO pictures from surf camp or farm camp.... how did that happen!
